DESCRIPTION:Wood Animal Figure Carving\n\nLearn the fundamentals of wood carving while creating small basswood animal figures. Participants will receive instruction in safe knife handling\, carving techniques\, surface design and tool sharpening. All materials and tools are provided.\n\n\n\nStudents will begin the day learning safe knife handling and the proper use of small gauges\, ensuring everyone is comfortable receiving the tools before starting.\n\n\n\nDuring the first half of the day\, students will actively carve small basswood animal figures\, with guidance and supervision to promote both skill development and safety.\n\nIn the second half\, participants will focus on finishing their pieces and applying surface designs\, followed by a brief demonstration on sharpening techniques. By the end of the day\, students will have learned basic carving techniques\, how to apply surface designs\, and how to maintain their tools through proper sharpening.\n\n\n\nInstructor: Eva Sturm-Gross
