1-Day University

The Bridge Initiative and the Student Government Association is organizing a 1-Day University program for the Greater Rutland community on Saturday, March 23, 2024, 9 am - 4 pm. This will be an outstanding one-day event that will bring the academic and town/county community together to explore, enjoy, learn, share. 1-Day University will take place on the VTSU Castleton campus in Leavenworth where more than two dozen neighbors, students and faculty and staff members will share their passions and expertise with the 100+ folks expected to attend. The subjects will depend on the volunteer instructors themselves, but they will span a wide variety – from fiber arts and bike repair to creating a wildflower meadow and conflict resolution. We will not have classes that entail tools or any implements that could present any danger. Each class will last as long as the presenter deems appropriate. There will be lunch available and time to meet people. 1-Day University is a free-for-all event; the attendees do not pay and the presenters do not get paid. The goal is to bring community members from the greater Rutland County to the campus, to build bridges between the community and the college, and for everyone to be inspired, enlightened and entertained, to discover new ideas and interests - and have a great time doing it. Plus no tests or grades – just the pure joy of learning. Mostly, we will all benefit from the exceptional community building that 1-Day University offers.
