Cirque Series

You are here:
  1. Home
  2. Cirque Series

Killington is proud to be a first-time host of Cirque Series, the trail running series that is redefining what mountain running is all about. Featuring a wide-ranging 7+ mile course, a vendor village, live music, and a large raffle to cap off the day, there's something to enjoy for participants & spectators alike. For full race information, head to the Cirque Series website at cirqueseries.com
Registration will only be open to the first 500 participants!
Course Description:
The 7.23-mile course kicks off at the base of the K-1 Gondola. With 3,133 feet of elevation gain, you’ll end up summiting three of Killington Resort’s six peaks before the end of your run. You’ll start off towards Snowdon Peak, snaking up rugged work roads before embarking on a steep climb to your first peak of the day at 1.2 miles in. After circling the top of Snowdon, you’ll head towards Killington’s North Ridge area, first along more service roads before another steep climb up the aptly named Ridge Run. You’ll then make a quick trip into the woods towards Cooper’s Cabin, the highest shelter on Vermont’s historic Long Trail. Following a brief trek on the Appalachian Trail, you’ll reach Killington Peak, the highest point in the race at 4,241', where you’ll be surrounded by stunning panoramic views of the Green Mountains. Catch your breath before beginning your 2.5-mile descent, first by zooming around Skye Peak to reach the top of Bear Mountain, another spot for gorgeous views. Your journey continues down Devil's Fiddle, the steepest downhill section of the course, and past the Bear Mountain Lodge before a long, steady trip up Bearly and back down towards the Northbrook area. At the 6-mile mark, you’ll endure your last sharp ascent up Vertigo before reaching the top of the Needle’s Eye Quad. Finally, a trip down Bittersweet will have you feeling just that way before passing through the base of Superstar and finishing out the race right where you started.
About Cirque Series:
The Cirque Series is redefining what mountain running is all about. Starting from the base of a world-famous ski resort, you’ll rally up windswept ridges & glacial cirques to towering peaks, power down a quad-burning descent, break the tape into a festival of live music, food, drink, & vendor tents. The elevation is serious but the mileage is manageable, and the race is as hardcore as you want it to be. Beat the pros down to earn legend status & cash prizes or enjoy the views & let the challenge be its own reward.
