Davenport Electric Fest: Honoring Thomas Davenport's Legacy, Advancing Sustainable Future Brandon, VT — The second annual Davenport Electric Fest is set to take place on July 8th from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Otter Valley High School in Brandon, Vermont. This electrifying event will celebrate the remarkable legacy of Thomas Davenport, the inventor of the first patented electric motor, while promoting the widespread adoption of electric motor technology for a sustainable future. Thomas Davenport, born and laid to rest in Brandon, Vermont, was a visionary inventor whose groundbreaking work transformed the world of electrical engineering. In 1834, he secured the first patent for an electric motor, a revolutionary invention that paved the way for advancements in harnessing electrical energy. Davenport's innovative motor played a pivotal role in shaping the industrial revolution and continues to be the foundation of numerous technological applications we enjoy today. Davenport Electric Fest serves as a testament to Davenport's legacy and the enduring impact of electric motor technology. The festival aims to educate and inspire attendees about the crucial role electric motors play in creating a sustainable and resilient future. Electric transportation, powered by electric motors, offers significant benefits, including reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improved air quality, and decreased dependence on fossil fuels. By accelerating the adoption of electric motor technology, we can pave the way for a greener and cleaner transportation system. The festival will feature engaging exhibits, interactive displays, and informative seminars that showcase the versatility and advancements of electric motor technology. Renowned vendors, including Beta Technologies an electric aircraft company, will be present, demonstrating cutting-edge innovations in electric transportation. Green Mountain Power, a leader in the renewable energy sector, will highlight the importance of carbon-free electric utilities and their role in achieving a sustainable future. Davenport Electric Fest is a family-friendly event, offering an opportunity for visitors of all ages to immerse themselves in the world of electric motors and learn what incentives and support there is to help you make your next car an electric one. In addition to exploring exhibits, attendees can enjoy face painting and savor a variety of culinary delights from food vendors, creating a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere. We also have a special treat available at 2pm in the Otter Valley auditorium. Local historian Dr. Kevin Thornton will be presenting a half hour movie about Davenport’s life and times, “The Indomitable Blacksmith”, that aired in 1954 on CBS and was a Desilu production! Don’t miss it. Join us on July 8th at Otter Valley High School in Brandon, VT, to honor Thomas Davenport's visionary work, learn about the significance of electric motors in a sustainable future, and celebrate the innovations shaping our world.
