Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region Announces Sarah Furman as Next Executive Director
Rutland, VT (March 9, 2026) — The Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Furman as its next Executive Director. Furman will officially begin in the role on April 6.A lifelong Vermonter, Furman brings more than a decade of executive leadership experience in commercial lending, business services, and strategic organizational management. She most recently served as Chief Lending Officer at Heritage Family Credit Union, where she oversaw all lending departments, policies, collections, and loan-loss mitigation, while guiding strategic lending growth and risk management.
Prior to that role, Furman held several leadership positions at the credit union, including Senior Vice President and Vice President of Business Services, where she focused on supporting local businesses, developing impactful financial products, and improving operational efficiency across teams.
Furman is already deeply connected to CEDRR and the Rutland region. She currently serves on the CEDRR Board of Directors and is also a board member of The Paramount Theatre and Rutland South Rotary. In 2025, she was appointed by the Governor to the Board of Directors of the Vermont Economic Development Authority (VEDA), further expanding her involvement in advancing economic opportunity across the state.

Furman holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Accounting from Siena College.
Grounded in her Vermont upbringing and inspired by the people and businesses that make the Rutland region unique, Furman brings a collaborative and community-centered approach to her leadership. She lives in Castleton, Vermont, with her husband and daughter and maintains close ties with her extended Vermont family.
