Rutland Habitat for Humanity
Announces New Home Partners – Starts Build Project
Welcomes Community Volunteers for “Build Days”
Seeks $35k To Help Close Funding Gap
RUTLAND, June 24, 2019  – Rutland Habitat for Humanity invites neighbors to help Hassam Alhallak and Hazar Mansour become Rutland home owners through the Habitat Home Partners program.
Home Partners are any community member who wishes to get out of a rental which may be too small, unclean, unsafe or unaffordable and into ownership of an affordable, well constructed, energy efficient house. Application forms are available.
The Alhallak / Mabsour family have been selected by the Rutland Habitat Home Buyer Selection Committee to qualify for an interest free mortgage. Habitat purchasers usually pay half of the going rental rates.
The mortgage payments Rutland Habitat receives “pays forward” for the next project which improves the community.
Habitat provides new Home Partners support during the transition into home ownership. Hunter Baryhill, a member of Rutland Welcomes and son of Habitat architect John Berryhill will act as a support partner for the first year of ownership.
Home Partners are required to put “sweat equity” into  their home. Neighbors may volunteer to help build the home at 120 Crescent Street which will be a positive addition to the neighborhood.
Local churches and organizations will participate in Habitat “Build Days” which include free refreshments and mementos. Last year 192 volunteers worked at least four hours on a house.
Mr. Alhallak works in accounting for Casellas and the Rutland Public schools. They have two children.
This $125,000 home has already received $90,000 in gifts and pledges. Close the funding gap before construction begins is a Habitat policy. Please help close the $35,000 funding gap with a gift today.
Rutland Habitat Housing Partner Selection Committee welcomes your referral of someone ready to become a Habitat Home Partner. Request an application via email:
