Subaru Share the Love® Donation Supports New
Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scanner at Rutland Regional Medical Center

Rutland, VT — Nothing is more powerful than love, especially when it is given away.
On Monday, June 16, Oliver Subaru of Rutland donated $40,000 from the 2024 Subaru Share the Love® event to support the cost of a new positron emission tomography (PET) scanner at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

A PET Scanner uses safe radioactive drug tracers that allow the machine to see where parts of the body may be diseased. The PET scanner is combined with a computed tomography (CT) scanner that takes x-rays of the body, so that precise location of the abnormal area can be mapped, measured and identified.

Representatives from Oliver Subaru of Rutland, including Jose Oliver; Curtis Vanepps, Managing Partners of Oliver Subaru of Rutland, and representatives of Subaru of New England presented the donation to providers and staff at RRMC in support of the Scanning for a Brighter Tomorrow campaign to help cover the cost of the new PET scanner.

This year’s Subaru Share the Love donation is the result of months of promotion by Oliver Subaru and Subaru of New England. The Subaru Share the Love event runs annually from mid-November through early January, and with every new Subaru purchased or leased, Subaru donates $250 to select charities. In addition, in 2024, Oliver Subaru donated $75 to Rutland Regional for each sold or leased vehicle, as well as an additional $5 for every routine service visit during the Subaru Share the Love event.

“We are grateful to Oliver Subaru of Rutland for selecting Rutland Regional Medical Center once again this year as the beneficiary of its local Share the Love event,” said Traci Moore, Senior Director of Development and Community Relations. “We appreciate the generosity and awareness this initiative helps to generate in support of the programs and services RRMC provides in our community.”

Since being selected as a Subaru Share the Love beneficiary in 2017, RRMC has received more than $162,000 from the annual Subaru Share the Love event. These donations have supported new 3D breast imaging and nuclear medicine diagnostic equipment, upgrades to the hospital’s psychiatric services inpatient unit, palliative care services and the comfort suites for chronically or terminally ill patients. Last year donations supported the enhancement of the hospital’s Infusion Center, and now the most recent donation will help to cover the cost of a new PET scanner.

“We are truly thankful for the continued support of the Subaru Share the Love campaign, and our partnership with Oliver Subaru of Rutland”, said Judi Fox, President and CEO at RRMC. “Community support through important initiatives like this positively impact our patients in so many ways.”
