The Champlain Philharmonic will perform its Spring Concert Series conducted by Matt LaRocca on Saturday, March 28, 7:30 PM, at Town Hall Theater in Middlebury and Sunday, March 29, 4:00 PM at Grace Congregational Church in Rutland. The concert will feature a diverse selection of works, beginning with Fanfare by Vermont composer Erik Nielsen; Gwyneth Walker’s Let America Be America Again, a powerful musical setting of the Langston Hughes poem featuring narrator Al Wakefield; select movements from Lee Johnson’s Dead Symphony No. 6, a tribute to the music of the Grateful Dead; and concluding with Dvorák’s Symphony No. 9 ("From the New World"). Tickets are $15 for General Admission, $10 for Seniors (60+), and $5 for Students. Tickets are available for purchase in advance or at the door for both performances.
